Overview

FunGuyAI ("the App") is developed and operated by Lincoln Burnett ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.

We are committed to your privacy. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personally identifiable information.

Information the App Accesses

Photos & Camera

When you choose a photo or take a picture for identification, that image is sent to our API server to perform AI analysis. The image is processed in real time and is never stored on our servers after the response is returned. Images are never used for training, advertising, or any purpose other than the immediate identification request.

Location

If you grant location permission, your approximate GPS coordinates are used exclusively to provide region-specific fungi context (e.g., species common to your area). Location data is included in the API request and is not stored, logged, or shared beyond that single request. You may also type your location manually — in which case no GPS data is used at all.

No Other Data

The App collects no other data. There are no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting services, and no tracking of any kind.

Third-Party Services

The App communicates with the following external services to deliver its features:

• OpenRouter / Google Gemini — AI vision analysis for fungi identification. Requests include the photo and optional location hint. See openrouter.ai/privacy.
• iNaturalist — Public species and observation data. Only the species name (and optionally coordinates) are sent as a search query. See inaturalist.org/privacy.
• Mushroom Observer — Public community observation records. Only the species name is sent as a search query. See mushroomobserver.org/privacy.
• Wikipedia — External reference links are opened in your browser. No data is sent by the App itself.

We do not control the privacy practices of these third-party services and encourage you to review their respective policies.

Data Retention

We do not retain any user data. Photo data is discarded immediately after the AI identification response is returned. Location data is used only within the scope of a single request and is not persisted anywhere.

Children's Privacy

FunGuyAI is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where applicable under GDPR). Since we collect no personal data at all, there is no information to delete or review regardless of age.

Security

All communication between the App and our API server is encrypted over HTTPS. We do not transmit or store sensitive personal data, which minimizes security risk.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
